Food Systems Action Team Charge

The Food Systems Action Team will use the existing Oakland Food System Assessment along with other data to identify existing and potential new local programs, services and policies that improve access to quality, fresh foods in all neighborhoods.  When we find policies and practices that work well to achieve our goal, the Food Systems Action Team will determine if we can expand them to reach larger numbers of people.

In carrying out this charge, the Food Systems Action Team will ensure the accomplishment of the following tasks:

i)       Assess current access and availability of locally grown affordable healthy, fresh food.

ii)     Develop action plans that include indicators of increased access to the local food system and identify methods to track progress towards change.

iii)   Develop action plans that include strategies for policy and systems change that improve direct and retail marketing and institutional procurement opportunities to provide affordable healthy, fresh, locally grown food.
